Giuseppe Ostuni

Designer

Oluce is the oldest Italian agency of active design in the lighting field. Founded in Milan by Giuseppe Ostuni in 1945, the year that inaugurated a definitive fertile period for the birth of other important firms (Azucena, Lamperti, Arredoluce, Stilnovo): these companies represent a true meeting place for designers in the Milan area. The first Triennale that saw participation with Oluce was in 1951; a Luminator designed by Franco Buzzi and hosted in the section curated by the Castiglioni brothers. In was in these years that the magazineDomus was the protagonist in the international debate and promoted their own autors:Oluce, led by Giuseppe Ostuni, soon reached a much wider audience than Italy alone. Some of Giuseppe Ostuni’s collaborators in these years were: Tito Agnoli, Joe Colombo and Marco Zanuso. Thanks to the authors of such prestige, Oluce is one of the flagship companies of the golden age of Italian design. In 1968 the artistic direction was taken over by architect Vico Magistretti

Galleria Michela Cattai is available to privately value and purchase historical lighting pieces from Oluce, Arredoluce, Stilnovo and Arteluce.
