Franco Marrocco

Artist

Franco Marrocco was born in Rocca d’Evandro in 1956. In 1978 he had his first personal work in Cassino and from his excellent use of lines it is evident that he studied at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Frosinone. At the XI Quadriennale in Rome in 1986, Franco Marrocco exhibited Sul mio cielo volano anche gli angeli which was created in the same year: a triptych which show emotion and gestuality. Also in 1986, he participated at the XXXV Premio San Fedele in the cultural centre San Fedele in Milan. His research evolved from interior representation, thanks to the strong emotions that came from the light, an emotionalism dream. In the 1990s he exhibited in Paris, Finland and Sweden. In the second half of the 1990s, he worked in a different way with the canvas covered by transparent chromatics. Franco Marrocco‘s exhibitions in these years were frenetic and characterised by both national and international personal and collectives,. From a deeper research came the first monochromes such as Gli occhi conficcati from 2002-2003, Brace in 2004, Traiettorie e Tracce in 2007-2008. He participared at the 54th Biennale in Venice in 2011. The painter Franco Marrocco is now professor and Director of the Accademia di Belle Arti in Brera, Milan.
