Galleria Michela Cattai è lieta di annunciare la mostra personale dell’artista americana Marthe Keller nel proprio spazio espositvo di via Brera 4, Milano. La mostra dal titolo Pittura plurale si inaugura mercoledì 9 ottobre con un nucleo di opere che mettono in evidenza gli aspetti caratteristici del fare dell’artista. Il progetto espositivo, a cura di Elisabetta Longari è composto da una selezione di opere eseguite negli ultimi 15 anni. Il ritmo della pennellata si coniuga con supporti sempre diversi e costituiti spesso da materiali di recupero che mettono in evidenza la fisicità della pittura e manifestano l’attitudine sperimentale dell’artista nei confronti delle possibilità di organizzazione di un testo pittorico. Ne deriva un’esperienza di notevole ampliamento delle possibilità di relazione cromatica. Catalogo edito da Galleria Michela Cattai con saggio della storica dell’arte Elisabetta Longari.

Galleria Michela Cattai is pleased to announce the one-person exhibition of American artist Marthe Keller in the gallery at via Brera 4, Milan. The exhibition, Plural Painting, opens on Wednesday, October 9 with a core selection of works that highlight Longari is composed of works executed in the last 15 years. The exhibition, Plural Painting, characteristic aspects of the artist’s practice. The exhibition project, curated by Elisabetta is compesed of work executed in the last years. Rhythmic brush strokes join with a changing array of supports, often of recycled materials, that highlight the physicality of painting and show the artist’s experimental attitude stretching the boundaries of pictorial structure. This results in a remarkable expansion of elusive chromatic relationships. The catalogue published by Galleria Michela Cattai, has an essay by art historian Elisabetta Longari.

Marthe Keller viveva a Roma negli anni ’60 e torna ogni anno da New York per lavorare in Italia. Ha studiato pittura con Sal Scarpitta all’Istituto del Maryland e ha lavorato facendo wall drawings per Sol Lewitt. Le prime mostre significative di Keller sono state a New York e a Palermo in Sicilia nel 1982 cui sono seguite più di 22 mostre personali da allora, tra cui Corso Ricorso, in tournée in Italia, Germania e USA dal 2008 al 2011. Le opere di Keller sono in collezioni tra cui il Museo MET, MOMA, Whitney Museum e British Museum. Ha vinto borse di studio da istituzioni come la NEA, la NYFA e la colonia MacDowell. Marthe ha co-fondato ed è stato presidente delle arti BAU Institute residenza. È professore a contratto presso il Hunter College di New York.

Marthe Keller lived in Rome in the 1960s and returns every year from New York to work in Italy. She studied painting with Sal Scarpitta at the Maryland Institute and made wall drawings for Sol Lewitt. Keller’s first significant exhibitions were in New York and Palermo, Sicily in 1982, followed by more than 22 solo exhibitions including Corso Ricorso, on tour in Italy, Germany and the USA from 2008 to 2011. The artist’s works are in numerous collections including the MET Museum, MOMA, Whitney Museum and British Museum. She has received fellowships from the NEA, NYFA, and The MacDowell Colony among others. Marthe co-founded and was President of the BAU Institute arts residency. She is an adjunct professor at Hunter College in New York.
